Restore the Civil Rights of all non-violent felons in the United States.

Created by S.S. on January 28, 2014

Our current system continues to penalize, punish, and disenfranchise non-violent felons long after their sentences have been served. In essence it creates de-facto second class citizens. It is very hard to reintegrate into society when you are a second class citizen. Some States are now seeing this, and taking steps to remedy the situation, but most States follow the Federal example and impose a lifetime ban. The right to vote, serve on a jury, and hold public office should be restored immediately upon completion of sentence. The right to keep and bear arms should follow 2 years later, as long as no further convictions have occurred. Imagine never being able to take your children hunting, or not being able to defend your wife, or children without facing arrest. Let's change this.
