Restore Civil Rights to Pregnant Women

Created by C.M. on June 13, 2015

Just days ago, Kenlissia Jones was arrested for malice murder and possession of a dangerous drug. Her crime? She had an abortion. Two months ago, Purvi Patel was sentenced to 20 years in prison for feticide. In 2011, Bei Bei Shuai was arrested for attempting suicide while pregnant. In 2010, Christine Taylor was charged with fetal homicide for falling down a flight of stairs.

6 months ago, I would not have believed that this could take place in America. Even if life begins at conception, do civil rights have to end there?

I would like to put aside the debate about abortion;. whatever side of whatever issue you fall on, the only question I have is: should it be possible, under any law or jurisdiction, for a woman to be arrested and imprisoned because she is or was pregnant?
