Many convicted felons become so when young and immature. This does not make them lifetime criminals or non-American citizens. We change and we mature. To ban rights to vote takes away basic American rights. The country was founded on principles such as "no taxation without representation." Convicted felons pay taxes and therefore should be represented. The only way that can truly be obtained is by having voting rights restored for convicted felons who have served their time. To be rehabilitated one must be restored whole. That is not possible with less rights.
