The founding fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment as follows: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The placement of the commas are not by accident. The founding fathers were followers of Plato and wrote in Platonic Prose. With this said, what was their intent of the 2nd Amendment?
1) People who had arms were the first line to both defend the state against excessive tyranny of the Federal Gov't and to defend America from foreign invasion.
2) Those who had weapons were meant to be volunteers of a state militia that becomes a federal militia in times of war on our soil.
Those who bear arms have implicitly volunteered to be the defenders of the states and of America.
