Restore Franklin School to a homeless shelter instead of selling it to build luxury condo's for lobbyists.

Created by J.A. on November 20, 2011

To the Obama administration: if you cannot affect change on a staggering injustice in your own backyard, then how do you expect us to believe you are capable of bringing change to the entire nation and beyond?

To voters:
The Franklin School is an abandoned historical landmark in Franklin Square, Washington, DC. From 2002 to 2008, it served as a homeless shelter. After wanting to slash social services from the budget, the local administration closed the shelter and put it up for auction. The plans of bidders include a luxury condo or an upscale apartment complex for lobbyists. The OWS movement recently attempted to take the building back for the city, entering the building and beginning to clean and planning a public town-hall meeting for development. They were forcibly removed by cops.
