No American, especially not a journalist, should be afraid of the US government. No entity within the US government should be allowed to operate 'without any oversight, transparency, legal checks, or any demonstration of wrongdoing.'
Dissolve the DHS, restore freedom to US citizens, and start abiding by the 4th amendment. Use the courts. They are the check and balance against abuses by your branch, the executive branch, of government. Either get a warrant, or leave people be.
