Rather than labeling these non violent offenders as 2nd class citizens that can not defend themselves or vote, the White House should really think about giving such people a true second chance. This includes restoring the right to vote and the right to bear arms for home self defense.
If a felon has served their time and has been clear and free of violations for at least three years. Then he or she must have the right to petition a judge to seal their record.
This is all granted that the offense was non violent and non sexual in nature.
In order for people to fully re-integrate into society, they need a full second chance. This will enable non violent felons to fully learn from their mistake and have equal job opportunities.
