The National Ocean Sciences Bowl means more to me than anything. It is a competition for young scholars that teaches us about something that is necessary for our economy, our welfare, our planet, and our life. I volunteer with this organization every year and am so proud to see how extraordinarily well our students do. These people are the best. It is a tremendous disservice to take away opportunities to be treated the best. The continual reductions in funding for environmental services to our Ocean is heart wrenching enough, but the bigger mistake would be to not show interest in investing in those who truly can and do love the Ocean and learn stewardship. I urge Congress and the President to restore their vote of confidence in the National Ocean Science Bowl and immediately grant funds.
