The United States is revoking funding for UNESCO, a cultural and scientific organization of the United Nations, in response to the organization's decision to admit Palestine as a member state. This move is an unnecessary impediment to worldwide development and progress for what basically amounts to petty political support for Israel, a country with an atrocious track record on human rights, racial justice, and racial equality.
This decision significantly harms America's image around the world, as the US continues to stand as an impediment against progress in the Middle East peace process as well as destroying any legitimacy as a non-partisan actor in that process.
The United States must return funding to UNESCO immediately if it in any way cares about world peace, stability, or progress.
