Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park was taken from us in 1913 to build the to build the O Shaughnessy Dam, creating the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. Hetch Hetchy Valley was considered one of the most unique and diverse ecosystems in the world, described by John Muir as "one of nature's rarest and most precious mountain temples."
