The Atlantic Salmon on the east coast are in dire need of Our help. They are over fished and their spawning grounds are blocked by dams. The problem that needs to be addressed first, is to give spawning grounds to the Salmon. On the Merrimack River the migrating salmon population is just three percent of the historical highs. Last year in 2015, only thirteen Salmon got past the major dams to the place where they spawn, even with a salmon program and use of fish ladders. This demonstrates that the only way the Atlantic Salmon have a chance, is to get rid of the dams completely. I call the government to attempt to restore the Salmon. That would bring in business and a significant amount of tourism to admire the free river.
