We request that you approve any legislation that returns the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) to the military retirees. We also implore you to address congress and urge them to restore the COLA to its original amounts.
The 1% reduction in the COLA does little to reduce the budget but is a huge slap to the faces of our military. It is a big decrease to the pensions military retirees earned and were promised at the nation’s time of need.
You spoke very well of the Military and Veterans in the State of the Union Address and stated, “As this time of war draws to a close, a new generation of heroes returns to civilian life. We'll keep slashing that backlog so our veterans receive the benefits they've earned.” The COLA is a benefit our veterans earned. Please help right this wrong.
