Restore the Office of Technology Assessment.

Created by C.V. on November 11, 2011

The goal of this petition is encourage the Obama administration to restore/recreate the Office of Technology Assessment, the OTA. The OTA was an office of the United States Congress from 1972 to 1995. Its purpose was to provide members of congress with impartial and imperative analysis of the complex scientific and technical issues of the 20th century. The office was at the forefront of practicing and encouraging delivery of public services in innovative and efficient ways. The OTA was considered the paragon of objective governmental analysis throughout the world, as it was widely copied. During this time of unprecedented technological and scientific advancement, our congress, now more than ever, needs the OTA to provide them with research and information on 21st century sci/tech.
