Restore overtime protection for middle class workers.

Created by W.P. on November 18, 2014

Restore the threshold for overtime pay to Middle Class income levels of $60,000.00/year or more.

Since the 1970's average incomes have decreased while hours worked have increased. Only workers earning an annual income of under $23,660 qualify for mandatory overtime. By 2013, just 11 percent of salaried workers qualified for overtime pay, according to a report published by the Economic Policy Institute.

In a recent Gallup poll, salaried Americans now report working an average of 47 hours a week, and 18 percent report working more than 60 hours per week.

This is free labor to employers that could go to reducing unemployment or increasing your pay.
