Since 1954, Americans wishing to show their support of this country with the Pledge of Allegiance have had to deal with saying "Under God" in the middle of it. This awkwardly placed phrase infringes upon a founding principle of this country; Religious freedom.
While everyone is entitled to their own Religious beliefs, they should not be forced upon the citizens in the Pledge. Wether you believe in a higher deity or not, this is a direct Constitutional violation, in a sense. We are supposed to be a secular nation. We should continue as such, and go back to the roots of our Pledge; making it include all of those with differing view points about religion!
Please, Mr. President, respect the Constitution, and show that we still ARE a country of religious freedom!
