We call for the Obama Administration to review California SB 227 that Governor Brown signed into law revoking the right to due process for California Law Enforcement Officers. The new law removes the right to use a grand jury to investigate cases where a member of law enforcement is alleged to have caused the death of a suspect, either by a shooting or by use of excessive force. This is a right all other citizens in California have. Removing this right is unjust.
Due to the precedent this unjust law sets we ask the Obama Administration to intervene on behalf of the citizens of the United States and have the law overturned. This law harms the safety of law abiding citizens.
