Former government officials, including former President Bush, former VP Dick Cheney and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld broke U.S. and International Law when they authorized the military and our national intelligence agencies to torture detainees as part of the "War on Terror".
Many of these detainees were innocent and some were U.S. citizens. The administration has so far failed to seek prosecutions and has instead worked hard to suppress evidence and stop foreign proceedings against U.S. officials in Spain, England and Germany.
It is the duty of the President of the United States to uphold and defend U.S. law, so we ask that the President immediately order the Justice Department to begin investigations and to prosecute current and former U.S. officials for these crimes.
