Louisiana governor John Bel Edwards has cut the TOPS program as of February 11, 2016 in an attempt to make state budget costs. By getting rid of this program, many students enrolled in colleges will not be able to pay their tuition. This will drastically effect students and cause either strain or drop outs. Education should be a basic right and not a privilege. Degrees are required for decent jobs and students should not go into debt to attain that standard. There are other ways to reduce spending than crushing the future of spring students that will help the future economy.
