Restore Tulare Lake

Created by P.B. on February 08, 2014

We demand the restoration of Tulare Lake in the San Joaquin Valley of California, and using it as a much needed water reservoir. A study done under Gov Schwarzenegger stated that it would cost one billion dollars for restoration, which is fiscally responsible compared to the 4+ billion dollar expansion of the Sierra Dams. A restored Tulare Lake would stabilize a water supply for the west side farmers, and replenish the depleted aquifers. A wilderness area along the lake shore for; hiking, hunting, bird watching, and water sports, would attract tourist dollars, thus creating thousands of jobs. Property values would soar, as small impoverished rural communities would suddenly find themselves sitting on water front property.
