The Georgia Department of Labor is denying Unemployment Insurance Benefits to anyone working for an educational institution regardless of employee position. Employers are forcing administrative personnel to take up to two months unpaid leave per year and manipulating records or lying to justify denial of benefits. The denial of benefits was ruled illegal by the US Department of Labor, but Georgia will not comply. Documentation submitted during appeals process disappears so that the examiner has no record during telephone appeal process. Employers are assumed to be correct, while employee's documentation is either absent or determined irrelevant. Please help us get the benefits we need to survive while our employers continue to find ways to pay less and demand more. Thank you.
