Our Congress was originally created to represent the opinions of the people. Therefore, it makes sense that 'Senator' and 'Congressmen' should not be a career, but rather a temporary leave from a current job to provide a citizens input into the United States' governmental decisions.
There is also a great deal of time and money wasted when current congressmen and senators campaign for another term when they should be spending time on congressional duties.
Therefore, this petition suggests that all congressional terms be limited to one, with a reasonable salary for only the time they are in office. In addition to providing a better outlet for public opinion, this would help to reduce the amount of federal funding spent on congressional salaries and perks.
