Currently, data brokers are collecting information fro every aspect of our lives based upon our internet searches, purchases online and off, cell phone usage, and social networking.
Data brokers are not collecting this information as part of a security measure and they are not directly asking for permission to collect our data. On the other hand they are taking this information, including personal information like social security numbers, dates of birth, and addresses and they are selling this information.
We, as Americans, should have the right to easily opt-out of this information collection AND we should also have the option to request that data brokers destroy all information on us that they have already collected to date.
