Tax dollars are helping fund public hospitals that are now being governed by the Catholic Church. In areas where the Church is actively seeking "affiliations" with hospitals, patients are being denied abortions, vasectomies, respect for end-of-life decisions, laboratory stem cell processes, and many other aspects of modern medical practice. In areas such as Washington State, patients are being left with no choice for medical care that isn't "affiliated" with the Catholic Church. This problem clearly qualifies as one of "separation of church and state" because public hospitals commonly receive tax dollar funding. It needs to be corrected at both the state and federal level.
