Restrict participation in We the People petitions to US citizens according to established voting laws.

Social media influencing government is an extremely interesting idea, but it is concerning that participants do not have to be a US citizen to create or sign a petition that can influence US policy makers. Shouldn't the American people reserve this right? Isn't this part of our constitutional rights? The way the site is currently set up, there is no way for the government to verify that the voices that are influencing the policy they are making is of the American people. The consequences of this have the potential to be catastrophic. There are laws on who can vote for the public officials who make policy and if these petitions are influencing policy (like voting does), there should be limits on who can participate that align with the US Constitution.
