Restrict possession of firearms to those who are 18 or older.

Created by S.C. on January 24, 2013

This petition seeks to limit the possession of firearms to those who have attained the age of 18. In many states children may possess firearms for training purposes if they are supervised by adults. It is the purpose of this petition to produce legislation that will eliminate this activity. The purpose of this is to help improve the safety of our schools while not infringing on people's second amendment rights.

Many school shooting situations are carried out by children (under 18). From a constitutional or societal protection standpoint there is no legitimate reason for kids to be learning how to shoot guns. Responsible gun ownership can be learned after a person reaches the age of 18. Children who have training with guns are much more likely to be able to carry out a mass shooting.
