Far too much is secret. In Washington area alone, 17 million square feet of space (33 building complexes) are used for Top Secret work. Through Wikileaks and Edward Snowden we have learned that secrecy is often used, not to maintain military advantage or hide troop activity, but rather to keep from the public governmental activity that would be upsetting if announced. We ask the Obama administration to reverse this completely. By default, facts should be made public. Secrecy should only be used when non-secrecy would lead to the endangerment of American lives. We should not have to rely on people brave enough to be whistle-blowers for truth.
