Restructuring congressional retirement pay and benefits is ideal for a few reasons. For starters, let those who actually retired (i.e. in their sixties) keep the benefits; they earned them. Those that serve one term and get to keep 100% of their pay and benefits when a service member of the United States Armed Forces only gets 50% after 20 years seems unbalanced, disproportionate and unconstitutional. Furthermore, the money saved can be put towards better things like the deficit. This alone will not solve the issue, but it is a step in the right direction and that is what this country needs. This is not complicating to a point that is beyond comprehension.
