The Veterans Administration hospital system is the single largest hospital system in America. This system is dwarfed by the shear total number of hospitals in America.
Privatize the VA hospital system. This is a political hot potato. Do we really need 175 VA hospitals? Just support only 20 or 30 government run regional specialty centers. 40,000 people die every year on our highways and far more are seriously injured. America’s privately run hospital system can handle nearly all of our veteran’s medical needs. Every one of our military veterans should be given immediate direct access to any quality hospital and doctor of their choice. This can reduce overall cost while providing greater access for our "medical card" carrying veterans. As a first step just merge the VA medical and Medicare.
