I propose we resurrect the Grace Commission. Led by Ronald Reagan, The Grace Commission was an investigation that was focused on finding waste and inefficiency in the US Federal Government. It comprised of 161 executives, who had a better understanding of business than any elected official. They preached frugality and when they reported their findings to congress, which consisted of $424 billion that could have been saved in 3 years, and rising to $1.9 trillion per year by the year 2000 was ignored by Congress. The report also found that ONE-THRID of all income taxes are consumed by waste and inefficiency.
If there has ever been a time in American history that we need to cut spending and focus on maximizing efficiencies this is the time!
