The internet or World Wide Web is a vital key to the free flow of ideas, commerce and information. As the creator of the internet and the driving force behind its expansion the United States should retain control over ICANN and the internet at large. We have seen attempts by foreign countries to limit the free flow of information, ideas and technology in the recent past, should we take the risk to allow these entities to gain undue control over the future of the Internet? We have seen the inability of the United Nations and other entities to maintain and grow most projects that have been put under their control. The handing over of the internet will have the same demise if allowed to proceed.
Handing over the lifelines of banking, shipping, communications, ecommerce etc. is reckless.
