Retain the United States control over ICANN

Created by R.S. on March 16, 2014

According to reports, "U.S. officials announced plans Friday [March 14, 2014] to relinquish federal government control over the administration of the Internet, a move that ... alarmed some business leaders and others who rely on the smooth functioning of the Web."

This move poses various risks such as losing the Freedom of Speech protections. It is likely that certain specific countries, such as possibly China, would try to take over control of the Internet as a result.

Therefore, the U.S. should _not_ give up the control of ICANN and other aspects of the Internet. The U.S. should retain control over any technology assets such as this.
