Russia has blatantly violated Ukraine's sovereign rights. Meaningful and swift action needs to be taken by the United States and its allies. To this end, the following actions are proposed:
1. NATO (of which Turkey is a critical member) should prohibit the Russian navy from transiting the Bosphorus Strait. This would essentially render the Russian (Crimean based) fleet largely irrelevant, as they no longer have passage to the open seas.
2. Russia should be immediately removed from the G8. The original G7 should proceed with new plans for their next meeting away from Sochi.
3. Economic cooperation projects with Russia should be suspended.
