Every year, students across America take standardized tests such as the ACT or the SAT to test their general intelligence. The results of these tests are the tool that colleges use to accept students into colleges and also to award scholarships.
My proposal is that the board of education looks into providing tests which more accurately represent a student's intelligence. Some students are intelligent in that they have the ability to manipulate numbers or that they can manipulate data or words. However, since the ACT/SAT measure few subjects, the determinations of intelligence is inaccurate. Some students who may be poor in math skills may have excellent artistic skills in either the visual or performance field. This misrepresentation hurts that student's potential for success.
