In the attempts of public educational institution's visions of honoring American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians the "mascot" culture has led instead to ignorant acts of institutionally backed hate on the part of less morally just individuals. This has to stop. It has spread, instead of knowledge, a public acceptance of degrading children for what ethnic group they were born into. Something no one should ever be made to feel like they are not proud of or wish to change. It is especially crucial that this does not happen with the free permission of the public school system. Please for the sake of children, who this hurts the most according to APA research and statements, retire all the "Indian" mascots, tokens, etc. from public schools and institutions.
