The penny is detrimental to today's economy in which it costs more to produce than it is worth. As of the United States' Mint 2011 annual report, the penny costs 2.4 cents to produce. The majority of people don't bother using pennies to begin with, so there is no point in keeping the worthless coin around. The US Mint produced about 5 billion pennies, which costed the US about $120,000,000, to create $50,000,000, most of which will collect dust. Every price should be rounded to a five or a zero. Follow the instructions Canada gave (http://www.mint.ca/store/mint/learn/phasing-out-the-penny-6900002#.UdUpt...).
This absurdity has to stop.
