Retract its statement permitting the use of sonic devices for the discovery of off-shore oil reserves.

Use of sonic devices in searching for off-shore oil reserves produces sounds of a level and frequency known to cause liver bleeding and damage to soft tissue of animal models (Limits for underwater noise exposure of human divers and swimmers, Subacoustech) and hearing loss in sea life (DOSITS Hearing Loss). Hearing loss has been associated with over half of the cases for beached whales and dolphins (Hearing Loss in Stranded Odontocete Dolphins and Whales). The use of sonic cannons in the known breeding ground of several endangered species (North Atlantic Right Whale ~ 500 left, among others) is irresponsible and should not be allowed. This petition moves that the White house should retract its statement allowing the use of sonic devices in the Atlantic for the discovery of oil reserves.
