If the Government continues through a stalemate and causes the first government shutdown since 1996 people who receive government aide will continue to do so. However, government run facilities such as museums and monuments will not continue to run while the shutdown is in effect. This could discourage tourism in many places of the United States, and depending on how long the shutdown lasts, could cause more economical problems in some areas. The elected officials in Congress and in the Senate will continue to make their salaries during the shutdown while other people who are not causing the shutdown, whom are employees at government run facilities, will be unable to work or get paid. Therefore, if the elected officials cause the government to shut down, they too should lose their salary.
