The subject came up of the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, and someone called in to say he was a veteran of the Navy and received an Undesirable discharge in 1963 for being gay.
The next logical step for the military is to change the status of any veteran who received such a discharge for nothing else but sexual orientation to "Honorable." Their undesirable discharge was wrong when it happened, it's wrong now, and should be changed. Such a discharge status immediately closes the door to many opportunities for such veterans and has a severely negative impact on their lives.
It's time to call for a retroactive amnesty for all GLBT veterans who experienced such a discharge.
