Retroactively restore the $5,000.00 first time homebuyer's credit for home purchases by residents in Washington, DC.

Created by R.W. on February 10, 2013

This petition asks the White House to retroactively restore the first time homebuyer's credit that's used by thousands of middle & working class residents of Washington, DC. The credit helps lower the tax burden paid by many middle & working class families. (By taking this credit away, taxes are effectively raised on young families & singles.) It helps offset the cost of purchasing a home in the very expensive Washington, DC market. It helps make new, younger families able reap financial benefits of owning their home instead of renting. Finally, this tax credit is set up to ONLY help middle/working classes families/persons as it phases out for higher income groups. Please restore this credit as it helps out those who are most sensitive to tax changes, the middle/working classes.
