Retrocede the Areas of Washington, D.C. east of the Anacostia River and west of Rock Creek back to the State of Maryland

Created by J.T. on November 13, 2012

Whereas, the areas of the District of Columbia east of the Anacostia River and west of Rock Creek hold no facilities which would necessitate their continued jurisdiction under the direct control of the federal government.

Whereas, retroceding these areas back to the State of Maryland would grant full representation in Congress for the residents of these areas.

We, the undersigned, hereby petition the Federal Government of the United States to retrocede the areas of the District of Columbia east of the Anacostia River and west of Rock Creek.

We request that upon retrocession, those areas east of the Anacostia River be represented by Maryland's 4th Congressional District, and those areas west of Rock Creek be represented by Maryland's 8th Congressional District.
