The seizure in 1877 of these lands by the U.S. government from the Sioux First Nations has been declared by the courts to be illegal.
The Sioux First Nations are asking for the return of their sacred lands to their care and administration. The Black Hills are not for sale.
President Obama has the tools within his administration to resolve this issue in a fair an honorable manner.
Now is the time for a burgeoning historic cooperation between the U.S. and the First People Nations to resolve a morally and reprehensible wrong that has persisted too long.
