Students in Public schools are no longer provided with books to take home and study. A child has to try and find all the relevant printed papers the teacher gave them that deal with the subject the child is studying instead of just handing the parent or tutor their book. Most children do not have the organizational skills to keep up with all those pages of material without an already formatted book to aid them. Schools have drifted away from the standard that books bring and in these recent years we have seen a greater decline in what the students learn. Subjects like Reading use many other books and may not need a standardized book, but it is important that English, math and science classes be required to have a book. As it seems these are the areas where Americans have struggled most.
