Censorship started out as a tool of protection. We wanted to make sure that the most outrageous offenders who set out to hurt people with their words didn’t. The problem is, once you make an exception to ANY law, it becomes easy to allow for smaller and smaller reasons to become justifiable excuses for exceptions. This can become hectic, unmanageable, and unreasonable.
I propose that the power to create and amend laws regarding all matters concerning the 1st Amendment be returned to the local & stare governments, who are better able to determine the needs and desires of their own citizens. This would relieve the federal government of trying to create one-size-fits-all laws for 317+ million people, as well as seeing to the more individualized needs and opinions of people in different areas
