Whereas we cannot depend on our elected officials to vote against their own collective interests (such as pay increases when the country is in recession), even when such is the interest of the majority of the citizenry,
It is incumbent upon us to demand, and our government to provide, an avenue for the general citizenry to implement policy through public referendum and popular vote, to enforce our will when our elected government is incapable of action, fails to act in accordance to its mandate, or pursues its own interests.
Such resolutions would be subject to review of the Supreme Court, but would bypass approval of both the Legislative and Executive branches. Such resolutions would also have the power to bring before the review of his/her peers, any Justice in taint of corruption.
