Over the past 20 years (and more), powers have been granted to the executive branch that traditionally have been held by the legislative branch of our republic. They were granted out of expediency to combat global terrorism, and have been retained for such purposes. There was a push under the previous administration to return these powers to the people of the United States, but under the current administration, the hand at the wheel has been steady and wise. The hand on the wheel of the ship of state is about to change. It is beyond time that a wise president (particularly one who is a constitutional scholar) should return constitutional powers back to the people.
