In 2011, the federal government, in a ultimate move of nannyism, banned Americans from participating in online poker games. This ban was perpetrated under the auspice of The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. a poorly written edict basically depriving the American public a common gaming activity that virtually every other country around the world has the luxury of participating. This was a clumsy attempt to ban online gambling by deputizing banks and credit processing companies to prevent payment processing of “unlawful” Internet gambling—without ever defining what constitutes such “unlawful” Internet gambling.
