...not just for the benefits to the poor, but for those businesses and bureaucracies needed to govern and defend our great nation.

The wealthy in the middle 1900’s both recognized and accepted their responsibilities. They knew that they were the great winners in the great game of American Capitalism, and realized that unless they reinvested the bulk of their winnings back into the American system, it would fall into massive debt (current status) and eventual bankruptcy…game over! They had all of the money, so they instinctively knew it was their bill to pay. Now, they are insulated by so much wealth, that greed's lack of compassion has blinded them to their duty.
