Due to budgetary constraints that began on March 1 2013, the Head Start Program has undergone significant budget cuts and has removed over 70,000 students nationwide, as well as cut professional educators from its payroll.
While the People understand the need for austerity measures, We ask the President to remember that both he, and our elected officials are meant to be Servants of the People. Americans have watched as funding for schools has waned, and our students have fallen behind international competition. However, We the People will not abide our children to suffer the consequences of one Super Committee's failure to find a solution.
As a father himself, We would hope the President will support this petition: return full funding to Head Stat, or make it exempt from the sequester.
