Currently, copyright is a constrictive policy that does not give much incentive for creation. The current policy of life + 70 years prevents people from creating material based on current material, and only benefits large corporations determined to squeeze every dime out of a product.
Reform copyright as thus:
15 years at full copyright
5 years at a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA licence
5 years at a Creative Commons BY-NC licence
5 years at a Creative Commons Attribution licence
Move into public domain
This way, material can be more easily be shared and built off of, while still protecting the original creator for some time. Through this system, both creators and consumers benefit, democratizing creativity for a new present and a promising future.
