Sometime in the past, Congress granted the Department of Education carte blanche to charge hundreds of dollars in interest to one who requests a forebearance because they are unable to keep up financially with the changing economic environment. And, if the loan goes into default, the person is charged a daily percentage that grows out of control and has the person owing 2-3 times the amount of the original loan.
And, the arrogant statement made by the Department of Education that they do not have to answer questions or respect the person who purchased the loan. The Department of Education is given absolute power and control over that persons credit record making their financial situation more difficult. The laws need to be revamped and retroactive for everyone based on fairness.
